The courses and tutorials in this series are aimed at the small business web site owner who needs to have a firm understanding of how to generate the best return on any web site investment, whether that be an investment of time, money or both. It is intended to make competent rather than expert. However, by the end of a course, there will be enough links to online references, both free and with a price tag, that it will be feasible through further study to develop a professional level of competence and expertise.
By the end of each course you will be competent to do any of the following:
1. Understand enough of what should be done to be able to distinguish between a genuine exponent of the skills you are prepared to pay for and the black hat snake oil salesman who really ought to be doing something within their sphere of competence. Or robbing somebody else rather than you. Sadly, there are legions of such people out there ready to take your money.
2. Make a reasonable fist of generating enough income from your site to be able to pay for any further expertise you may require. You will be able to construct a web site which is search engine friendly, register it with the search engines and indexes.
3. Be able to follow the links to further information in order to develop the level of expertise for yourself, so you can look after your web site and be able to generate income from it in the longer term.
In each instance you will be able to keep your site fresh and visitor friendly to win sales and enquiries and be able to identify effective pay per click strategies for your site.
The business sector selected for the example site, entertainments agency, is a very competitive, demanding and difficult one to operate in. By setting off from a standing start, we intend to show beyond doubt that it is possible to attract visitors and sales by utilising the lessons in these courses, and that it is also possible to derive secondary incomes from our web sites in some, but not all, circumstances. As well as the example site and the tutorials on this site, the course is backed up by a newsletter which contains important details and links which make the course easier to follow. If you feel you will benefit from enrolling, which is free and there are no obligations now or later, please visit the newsletter subscription page and simply enter your email address in the boxes as requested there. We do not check who has joined. We would probably not recognise you from your email address if we did.
