Those readers who are using our hosting services will already have email services configured and operational according to your needs as you have briefed us.
Webmail is available to view your emails whilst on the move within all of the configurations offered. This is a facility whereby you log in to your inbox using the same username and secure password as usual, but through a browser interface. You can create and send emails whilst online, too. It is an important aspect of making the "mobile office" a reality.
Email services as a stand alone function range from catering for a single business or family unit's needs to communicate with the outside world for about £1 per week up to a full enterprise wide server system with full calendar synchronisation. The Jargon Explained
First, an explanation of what the jargon means. This is how we use it here. Some usage of jargon has changed over time and it gets widely distorted in different places, other jargon still means the same as it did before. So it is as well to explain what we mean.
An alias is the part which comes before the @ sign in an email address, and the part that comes after is called the domain name. The domain includes the tld, which is the bit that comes after the dot(s) at the end, and you may even have a sub-domain. So if your email address is
This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
your alias is me, your domain is mydomain.co.uk and the tld is .co.uk. If your email address is
This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
your alias and tld remain the same, but your domain is myisp.co.uk and you have been allocated the sub-domain myaddress, telling people you do not have your own domain name.
Finally, there is the pop3 box, often expressed in capital letters. The term today is less accurate because the structure of email software has changed. But it is still widely used in a catch-all sense, as we use it, to describe the account name, email inbox or username to whom emails addressed to one or more aliases are delivered.
Within the Stop Watch Web system, you may have as many aliases as you wish addressed to one pop3 box. Small Business or Family Unit
We have a superb offering here. Provided the domain name you want is available, you may have emails delivered to your own addresses. We would recommend a .co.uk address for a business and its staff and directors, or for a sole trader, and a .me.uk for all the members of a family or a single individual. So you can have separate pop3 boxes with, say, admin, sales, fred.bloggs, jill.johnson and whatever else @mybizname.co.uk, with a similar structure for family or personal group members @myownname.me.uk.
It is that straightforward, and with our help and advice plus your own control panel to make future alterations should you need to, there is little indeed to worry about. More Complex Arrangements
Reflecting more complex structures, we can supply failover support services for mission critical email systems, dedicated servers on your site or at one of our data centres, to the full calendaring synchronisation, SMS services and collaboration software for enterprise wide communications over a complex and geographically dispersed organisation.
The range of this category indicates that needs and hence resources required to meet them vary widely. We would have an initial discussion with you followed by an in-depth analysis of how best to meet your needs, then present a fully costed proposal for your consideration.
For the larger, more time consuming assignments, we may approach your needs on a consultancy basis with a fee involved.
