Domain Name Registration
Whether you are trading globally, Europe-wide or locally, you can register your domain names through Stop Watch Web at heavily discounted prices. .COM .NET .ORG .BIZ .INFO .EU .TEL and all your .UK domains can be dealt with here. Call us now on 0113 320 0303 to check if your name is available. We are happy to advise upon procedures and charges for others, all around the world.
Domains can be handled as part of your overall Stop Watch Web services package or you may order separately and have them pointed at DNS servers of your own choosing.
We pay for non-UK names in US dollars and the current weakening of the pound sterling against that currency means we may not be able to hold our historically very low prices for much longer. As we have no way of knowing whether future relative price trend will be upwards or downwards and with so many pundits predicting upwards, we do suggest you buy now.
You never "own" your domain name. You "register" it for a fixed period. For instance, anything which ends in .uk, such as example.co.uk, is governed by the Terms and Conditions set out by Nominet UK. These state that any .uk name which falls under their jurisdiction shall be registered for a period of two years and that registration can be renewed for a further periods of two years. .com domains, however can be registered for from one to ten years and it is up to the registrant (the person or entity in whose name the domain is registered or re-registered) to decide both the initial period and any subsequent renewal periods. In contrast, .eu names can only be registered or renewed for one year at a time.
Useful Sources of Information
We use Tucows for all our client registrations of global and non-UK top level domains (TLDs). We have reproduced their Registration Agreement in full for your convenience.
Our clients currently register more .uk domains than any others. See Nominet UK's Terms and Conditions of Domain Name Registration.
The Tucows Registration Agreement has links to most of the major registrars across the world, for both terms of registration and disputes procedures.
The overriding authority for all domain names throughout the world including the United Kingdom is ICANN. See their Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy for all disputes where the problem cannot be solved by the local registrar.
For resolving disputes concerning .uk domains, see the Nominet UK Disputes Section for a full explanation of their policies and procedures.
